Free Services For Families

1. Lions Club - Free vision exam and glasses for children. Please see your school nurse for an application.

2. Dental help for children & adults - Call the VNA at 556-6200 and ask for Jacquie Rosleip.

3. Transportation (cab ride) to the eye doctor, dentist, or doctor - Call the VNA at 556-6200 and ask for Molly.

4. Society for Special Needs - (services, medication, & equipment) Please see your school nurse for an application.

5. Diabetes Help - Call Shelly Malone at 582-1881.

6. Children-At-Home Program - Funding for health needs.

7. Hawk-I Insurance Program for Children - Health coverage for children & teens from 0-19 years old. Please see your school nurse for an application. Stacy Kaufman from the FNA, 556-6200.

8. School Based Counselor from Hillcrest - Free individual and family counseling for families. Referral from school counselor or principal is needed.

9. Sertoma Club - They specialize in helping people with communication, hearing, speech, and language needs. Call Jean Ann Althaus at 582-2628.

10. Noon Optimist - They wil help with financial requests. Call Wayne Zumhof at 582-4763.

11. Clothes Giveaway - First and third Saturday of the month.

Visit newcomers, engaged women, growing families, special occasions and new citizen who have moved within the city with information about the community and have free gifts from area merchants.

Hostess calls on new people in the community to acquaint them with the city, community activities and local businesses. Provides the newcomer with coupons from local businesses.

18. Food Giveaway-

A. Share-contact Operation: New View - ((556-6390)
For a cost of $14.00 cash or food stamps and 2 hours of volunteer service, you will receive $24.00-$28.00 of groceries. Each month the food package will contain frozen meats, fresh vegetables and fruits, non-perishable grocery items. May purchase more than one package each month.

B. St. Vincent De Paul - (582-3733)

Provides food voucher with a referral from a Church Pastor or Social Service Agency.

C. WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) -(557-4444)

Food vouchers to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and mothers who have had a baby in the last 6 months. Vouchers from newborn to 5 years of age.

D. Dubuque Area Labor Harvest - (588-1415)

Grocery give-away 8 times a year for families and individuals with limited income. Must be a Dubuque County Resident. Bring social security card or drivers license. Bring own box; one box per family. Breakfast on Saturday from 7AM to 9AM (except on food give-away Saturdays).

Free groceries with referral from a Social Service Agency or Church required. Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1PM-4PM and Tuesday from 9AM-10:30AM.
